About

My name is Melissa Ebong. I'm a Christian, wife, mom of two sons and a 7th grade teacher. I started this blog because I want to help other wives and moms and future wives and moms navigate the sometimes delightful, exciting and murky waters of marriage and motherhood. I also longed for a community where I can give and receive ideas and encouragement plus Godly advice on family and relationships. My role as mom and wife are the most important roles I'll ever have. I want to be the best at these that I can be with God's help and guidance. I also want to share the highs and lows with other women who may be going through the same things or will be in the future.

So what else is there to know?  I'm originally from St. Louis, Missouri. I moved to New Orleans in 1999 to attend Xavier University of Louisiana and received a degree in Psychology. I love New Orleans and stayed there an additional two years to pursue a Master's degree in Counseling. Hurricane Katrina ran me out of New Orleans in 2005 and I lived in Houston for a few years where I graduated my counseling program and worked with children and families in counseling and social services. Many of the children I counseled were evacuees from New Orleans and unfortunately, spent time in the Superdome during the aftermath. They experienced some awful things. That experience really transformed me and gave me even more compassion for children and families. I moved to DC nine years ago and attained a Master's degree in Secondary Education. I teach 7th grade Language Arts to kids from many cultural backgrounds in Alexandria, VA. I love the kids! I also have a small Airbnb with my husband and we enjoy transforming our space and hosting families from all over the world, showing them our hospitality. I also love to travel, eat great food and get into crafts when the mood strikes.
